What to say at a Village Board Meeting

You do not need technical expertise. Questions carry more weight than speeches, and unanswered questions have their own impact. A few that have proven hard to answer:

Water

What is being added to the water in the closed loop, and where does the discharge go?

Power

What grid upgrades are required, at what cost, and what happens to residential rates?

Taxes

What abatements were granted, for how many years, and what is the projected revenue forgone? What specific entities benefit from the tax revenue?

Noise

What is the modeled decibel level at the nearest homes and schools, day and night? What monitorings is planned for audible sound as well as infrasound?

Jobs

How many local permanent full-time positions, and how many are contractors?

Emergency Response

How prepared are regional fire departments to handle large-scale incidents involving the data center? What upgrades will be needed, and at what cost?

Recourse

If the impacts exceed projections, what enforceable remedy does the village hold?

Contingency

What is the village contingency plan if T5 cancels or significantly reduces the scale of the data center project?

Bring a neighbor. One resident at a meeting is an opinion. Twenty is a constituency.
